On Tuesday, November 8, "Donald Trump elected president" graphics and gizmos were ready, just in case, but few expected to use them. "We went into the night knowing there was a chance Trump could win," PBS "NewsHour" anchor Judy Woodruff said. "But all the smart people said it was not going to happen." It wasn't just pollsters, pundits and political whizzes who were assuming Hillary Clinton would cruise to victory -- it was Republican bigwigs and Trump campaign staffers, too.

Not me. Nope. I never doubted DJT would win. Not even when the Billy Bush “grab them by the pussy” scandal hit Trump Tower like a neutron bomb and sent whiners like Reince Priebus and Mike Pence into their respective closets to clutch their pearls.

Nope. Never a doubt. I had been in the trenches with the Boss, I knew the mood of the country, I was intimately familiar with the political terrain of the Blue Wall battleground states, and I was sure we were going to take more than enough blue collar, AFL-CIO Democrats away from haughty Hillary to smash that Midwest Blue Wall with the force and magic of Thor’s Hammer.

So it was that on Election Day, I worked right up until sunset in the Trump Tower War Room. Then, against my better judgment – fancy restaurants are just not my thing – I hoofed it over to some upscale bistro across the street from Central Park to meet Wilbur Ross and his wife Hilary along with Andy Puzder and real estate mogul cum long time Trump confidante Richard LeFrak for dinner.

For the first 30 minutes, I had to listen to these folks bitch and moan about how we had lost the election. Their problem was they had been drinking the Kool-Aid served up by the corporate media that had Trump losing in a landslide.
