In the mid to late 1970s we listened to PBS on the radio in our studio part of the day while we worked. (Mostly All Things Considered). By 1980 we were pretty much done with PBS. While they were not as blatantly left as they apparently are now, they were lying to us and their tilt was obvious. It wasn't until 1984 when Rush Limbaugh was on the air that we had a balance to the left dominated air waves. But NPR was/is tax payer funded. They never had the right to only program to one segment of the population. Cancel all their funding and demand at least half of it back from 1980 to the present.
"Berliner writes that the “rise of advocacy [at NPR] took off with Donald Trump.” He adds, “As in many newsrooms, his election in 2016 was greeted at NPR with a mixture of disbelief, anger, and despair.”"
So basically he is refusing to admit that NPR has had a left/gubmint slant for a long time.
I read about half of this and could go no further . Sort of like Steve Bannon's "Cold Open." I can't listen to those Marxist, Bolshevik, Bastards for more that a minute or two. Christiana Ampour or however it's spelled is a classic example along with Ken Burns. Burns does documentaries that are good but when he talks politics he is left of Lenin. If we look to Republicans for hardened opposition we find none. Taxation without representation is where we are and when our founders were in the same place they risked their sacred honor, their wealth and their lives. Too soft for too long to offer any meaningful resistance. We are Rome and will suffer the same fate.
Your "call to action" is laughable. Other than some of Substack, all the other social media platforms are already controlled. The same for all of the mass media, both local TV and radio. And the same for our "elected" officials.
But you know this already, don't you. Everyone with an ounce of rational thought knows it. PBS has been in the bag since the year it was born in 1969.
This is why our elected officials are only concerned with emptying our GDP into overseas money laundering operations.
